Qualifications:
Required Skills:<ul><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10 preferred.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Medical Coding Certification preferred.</li></ul> Additional Qualifications/Skills:<ul><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines preferred.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. </li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Effective organizational and time management skills.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.</li><li style="margin-left: .3in;">Ability to work closely and professionally with others.</li></ul> 

Responsibilities:
Using ICD-10-CM standards, codes, and abstracts medical records for reimbursement purposes.  Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice.

Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10; CPT/ICD-10 knowledge; medical coding certification preferred.

Functions
as Auditor and Coder for the CPG Central Billing Office and in collaboration
with the CPG Compliance Officer. Perform daily review of coded inpatient medical records to validate
principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses and principal procedure sequencing and
code assignment. Provide feedback relating to corrections to coders and
practice leaders  The Medical Coder
Auditor will collaborate with practice leaders, CBO manager, Compliance
Officer, providers and other coders regarding discrepancies This position may be filled full-time or part-time and will work 1st shift hours. 
<div><div>The Medical Coder Auditor should have minimum of five years coding experience. </div><div>Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or </div><div>Completion of Registered Health Information Technician program; or completion of AHIMA or other independent study coding program; or a combination of education, certification and experience.  CCS, CPC, CPC-H, RHIA, AND RHIT.  </div></div>
