The Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) Engineer will support the space program located in Houston. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Develop new, higher capability TPS materials and coatings to advance future mission capabilities.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Conduct laboratory and high-temperature testing of TPS materials in support of design, development, test and evaluation.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Plan testing and analyze results from high enthalpy test facilities (arc jet, inductively coupled plasma (ICP) torch, etc.).</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Perform thermal analysis of spacecraft thermal protection systems using a suite of analytical tools in support of design, development, test and evaluation.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Responsible for ensuring the function and safety of the TPS for NASA programs while supporting real-time mission operations and decision making on critical TPS issues.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;">Other duties as assigned. </li>

<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience managing complex spacecraft systems/projects.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Ability to clearly communicate robust technical positions on TPS matters affecting human spaceflight.</li>
<li style="line-height:115%;background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Willingness to serve as focal point for mission support and rapid decision-making in critical mission operational environments.</li>
</ul>
 
WORK LOCATION: 
<ul>
<li style="line-height:115%;">This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required. </li>

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

Primary Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Schedule Development & Maintenance: Develop, update, and maintain detailed, resource-loaded project schedules (baseline, target, and actual).</li>
<li>Progress Tracking & Reporting: Monitor daily or weekly progress, update schedules with actual performance data, and produce progress reports for stakeholders.</li>
<li>Critical Path Analysis (CPM): Analyze the schedule to identify the critical path, bottlenecks, and potential risks, providing recommendations to mitigate delays.</li>
<li>Resource & Cost Management: Allocate and optimize project resources (labor, equipment, materials) to ensure efficiency.</li>
<li>Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and project controls teams to collect data and ensure project alignment.</li>

Minimum Qualifications

<li>Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6.</li>

The Engineering Academic & Student Affairs office, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (non-tenure accruing) faculty position in one of the following titles: lecturer, senior lecturer, instructional assistant professor, instructional associate professor, instructional professor, or professor of the practice.  The title and rank will depend on background, qualifications, and experience. This position is a 9-month, full-time appointment at the Texas A&M Galveston campus with appointment beginning August 1, 2026.  The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level and provide support for the development of the General Engineering (first-year) undergraduate program and curriculum; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession.  The successful applicant will be responsible for the organization, delivery, evaluation and assessment of the engineering courses and student outcomes associated with those courses and serve as a liaison between College Station and Galveston engineering programs. The engineering courses include, but may not be limited to, introductory engineering; programming; statics and dynamics; mechanics and electricity & magnetism. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

There may be additional requirements depending on the specific faculty title.
