SUMMARY
<ul><li>Software Engineer II develops, enhances, and maintains Atec software platforms across enterprise and embedded systems, taking ownership of significant components and independently solving complex technical problems. In addition to supporting legacy systems, this position leads development activities, mentors junior engineers, participates in architectural design, and actively contributes to innovation and new product initiatives.</li></ul>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Design, develop, test, and maintain robust software applications using C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, familiar with Microsoft Studio and other appropriate technologies.</li><li>Lead software projects or modules, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.</li><li>Organize, maintain, and review codebases using SVN and/or other version control systems.</li><li>Architect and implement new software features based on evolving customer and system requirements.</li><li>Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks.</li><li>Prepare and update technical documents, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.</li><li>Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, QA, and project management.</li><li>Research and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to improve software development efficiency.</li><li>Support deployment, integration, and validation activities at customer or field sites as required.</li><li>Maintain detailed records of design changes, versioning, and issue tracking.</li><li>Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.</li><li>Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.</li></ul>
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Mentor and support Software Engineer I team members as assigned.</li><li>May oversee interns or co-op students on projects or tasks.</li></ul>
AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul><li>Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.</li><li>Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.</li><li>Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.</li><li>Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate.</li><li>Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.</li><li>Cooperate with Auditors.</li><li>Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.</li></ul>
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
<ul><li>Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Minimum five (5) years of related experience in software development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Demonstrated experience leading software tasks or projects.</li></ul>
REQUIRED SKILLS
<ul><li>Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and LabVIEW; familiarity with additional languages a plus (e.g., Java, C#).</li><li>Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.</li><li>Experience with embedded systems, real-time applications, or device integration preferred.</li><li>Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.</li></ul>

Implements data quality assurance and improvement processes.</li><li>Collaborates with program managers, disease intervention specialists, and public health leadership to translate surveillance findings into actionable insights for prevention, care and program evaluation.</li><li>Fosters a culture of data-informed decision-making by developing and delivering training on surveillance methods, data interpretation, and analytic tools to staff across the HIV/STI Prevention Program.</li><li>Conducts literature reviews and stays current on public health trends to identify and implement best practices in surveillance and analytic methodologies.</li><li>Responds to data requests from all stakeholders and prepares and delivers data presentations to local, state and national partners.</li><li>Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality and data security policies, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, CDC, and state surveillance requirements.</li><li>Participates in emergency preparedness and response activities as directed by county leadership during a declared public health emergency or disaster.</li></ul>MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Health Policy, or a related field.</li><li>At least five (5) years of combined experience in public health surveillance, epidemiologic analysis, and health data management, with a focus on HIV/STI surveillance preferred.</li><li>Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role preferred.</li><li>Experience using data languages/tools such as R, Python, SQL, or similar analytic platforms in a health or public health setting preferred.</li><li>Experience working with surveillance systems such as eHARS, NBS, Maven/THISIS, or other disease surveillance platforms preferred.</li><li>Proven proficiency with both oral and written communication skills.    </li><li>Organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks a must. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.</li></ul>STARTING SALARY RANGE: $36.13 - $45.16 hourly based on qualificationsCLOSING DATE: Upon filling position  All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
