This position will require onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center supporting project needs. This will start out as a remote position but could change to a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:<ul><li>Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants</li><li>Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems</li><li>Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems</li><li>Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment</li><li>Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment</li><li>Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants</li></ul> In addition, you will have the opportunity to:<ul><li>Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes</li><li>Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the client and make presentations related to engineering tasks and status</li><li>Lead engineering project teams</li></ul>

Lead Mechanical Engineer 1 - Nuclear

Lead mechanical engineer in nuclear power with 10+ years in design, engineering analyses, and project leadership.

Description:
This position will require onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center supporting project needs. This will start out as a remote position but could change to a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. You will be leading the group on interesting and challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues to support single and multi-discipline projects. The majority of the projects performed for our clients require multi-discipline interface and coordination. Responsibilities include:<ul><li>Lead efforts performed by group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables to meet all technical, quality, financial and project controls expectations</li><ul><li>Initiating and conveying scope of work to group members</li><li>Defining deliverables (i.e. calcs, specs, drawings, design change etic…)</li><li>Reviewing status and tracking progress of group members to maintain project scope/budget and keep client informed</li><li>Routine status meetings</li><li>Submitting progress reports</li><li>Tracking and resolving open items and emergent project issues</li><li>Coordinating completion of project deliverables  </li></ul><li>Lead the team for the detailed design phases for all aspects of electrical engineering work to include interface and coordination with other disciplines</li><li>Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants </li><li>Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants</li><li>Provide technical oversight and supervision for all electrical engineering activities to include:</li><ul><li>Engineering design change packages to install, replace or upgrade existing plant equipment to ensure long-term equipment reliability</li><li>Engineering calculations in support of design change packages, including AC and DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting and protective relay settings</li><li>Equipment procurement specifications</li><li>Bid review evaluation process for potential equipment vendors, to include supporting vendor requests for additional information, developing responses to vendor questions, and maintaining a tracking mechanism for questions/responses</li></ul><li>Interface with the client, including implementing personnel to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction</li><li>Mentor and guide the development of the group</li><li>Identify and follow up on client needs that may result in strategic opportunities</li><li>Leverage good client relationships to develop follow-on work from existing clients</li><li>Prepare/Coordinate multi-discipline proposals</li></ul>

Description:
This position will require onsite support at the Duane Arnold Energy Center supporting project needs. This will start out as a remote position but could change to a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source.  Our nuclear power generation clients are digitizing their existing   power plants due to the increasing demand for electric power.  This is expanding our work in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group.  Due to this influx of work, Sargent & Lundy has a need for additional I&C Engineers. This I&C position offers the opportunity to work on upgrading and modernizing nuclear power plants with the latest control technologies the industry offers. You will be expected to both lead and support small and large controls projects with a focus on technical execution and effective Project Management. These projects will require coordination with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to bring the project to completion. You work will include investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a wide variety of controls engineering issues, including the following:<ul><li style="color: #333333;">Develop Digital Systems Design -- PLC, DCS, HSI, networked computer systems.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Prepare control system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant control systems.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Interface with the client to ensure proper project execution and client satisfaction.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies to present information in a clear and concise manner to meet client requirements.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Manage resources/resource loading and develop estimates for task completion and budget development.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Support the development of proposals.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Interface with vendors to perform document reviews, ensure equipment compliance with specifications and needs of the plant, and witness FAT performance on behalf of the client.</li><li style="color: #333333;">Support implementation of the project at the client’s facilities.</li></ul>
