The sterile processing technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, packaging, disinfection, and sterilization of medical and surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.  Service delivery is consistent with ANSI/AAMI, APIC, AORN, and CMS guidelines, rules, and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

	<li>Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.</li>
	<li>Manually cleaning of contaminated equipment and instruments.</li>
	<li>Operating and maintaining decontamination and sterilization equipment.</li>

	<li>Sorting, preparing, and packaging instruments for sterilization.</li>

	<li>Troubleshooting equipment and promptly reporting any issues or problems with equipment.</li>
	<li>Ensures operation of equipment by verifying daily testing and recommended preventive maintenance requirements are completed; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.</li>
	<li>Preparing and delivering equipment and instruments for to the proper storage area.</li>
	<li>Maintaining records of testing, cleaning, and sterilization procedures.</li>

Sterile Processing Technician

Requires strong English communication, basic computer skills, flexibility, and ability to take call within 45 minutes.
