<h1><strong>SUMMARY</strong></h1>

<p>As a Senior ADCS Engineer specializing in controls and autonomy at Firefly, you will design and implement advanced control systems and autonomous flight software for operational spacecraft. In this role, you will develop and tune attitude control software, support hardware-in-the-loop testing and system integration, and provide technical leadership while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position combines advanced control theory, real-time embedded systems development, and hands-on flight operations support while mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced operational environment.</p>

<h1><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></h1>

<ul>
	<li>Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude control software to ensure accurate pointing across all mission phases</li>
	<li>Implement control techniques for critical mission phases using reaction wheels, control moment gyros, magnetic torque rods, and thruster systems</li>
	<li>Develop control systems accounting for complex spacecraft dynamics including structural flex modes, propellant slosh, gimbal dynamics, and control structure interaction</li>
	<li>Establish technical standards and validation methodologies for control system design, software development, and hardware-in-the-loop testing</li>
	<li>Conduct stability analysis, sensitivity studies, and performance optimization for control systems under nominal and off-nominal conditions</li>
	<li>Support hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns for integrated ADCS systems including control algorithm validation, flight software verification, and system-level performance testing</li>
	<li>Drive resolution of complex ADCS challenges requiring deep technical expertise and rapid problem-solving</li>
	<li>Provide technical direction on system architecture and serve as subject matter expert for spacecraft control</li>
	<li>Mentor junior engineers in control theory and flight software development</li>
	<li>Author technical documentation and analysis reports that communicate ADCS concepts and results to diverse audiences</li>
	<li>Interface with cross-discipline teams to integrate control software with spacecraft hardware</li>
	<li>Serve as an ADCS console operator for spacecraft operations and perform post-mission analysis to improve spacecraft models</li>
	<li>Champion continuous improvement initiatives for ADCS processes, tools, and operational efficiency</li>

	<li>Strong understanding of classical control theory and frequency domain analysis techniques</li>
	<li>Expertise in real-time software development using C++ for mission-critical applications</li>
	<li>Experience developing high-fidelity actuator models and attitude control system testbeds</li>
	<li>Proficiency in hardware-in-the-loop testing and requirement verification for mission-critical systems</li>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt;">The Teacher/Director is responsible for the overall supervision and management of a center, ensuring that the objectives delineated in the annual Head Start plan are implemented. The Teacher/Director will be knowledgeable of Texas Minimum Standards for Licensing, and provide a supportive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">:</span></p>
<ol>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Maintain a calm, safe classroom and playground that incorporates developmental appropriateness; create an atmosphere in which the children feel comfortable and secure, reflecting the cultures of all enrolled children.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Observe the children at all times; provide positive guidance to promote self-esteem.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Develop lesson plans that meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child, planning for variations in ability levels and individual interests; review other teaching staff's plans. </span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Ensure that all classroom staff are competent in their abilities to interact appropriately with the children.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Evaluate the teaching techniques of other center staff to ensure that developmentally appropriate practice according to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as well as Hill Country Community Action quality Head Start standards are effectively implemented.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Consistently implement center routines, including hand washing, tooth brushing, eating, napping, and transitioning between activities.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare-licensing standards, paying particular attention to standards prohibiting any form of physical punishment.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Attend ARD meetings as scheduled.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Complete annual evaluations for employees supervised. Maintain documentation relating to staff competencies. </span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Model team leadership: ensure that the teamwork concept is upheld and implemented at the center.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Ensure that the arrangement of each classroom provides a stimulating, clean, and safe learning environment, incorporating NAEYC standards.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Complete Individual Developmental Plans for each enrolled child; continue the on-going assessment process, maintaining written or computer records on each child. </span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Supply a variety of materials and planned activities designed to encourage individual and group play.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Provide experiences that promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play, and creativity.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Offer a variety of language stimulation activities.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Provide experiences involving thinking skills such as generalizing, classifying, sorting, and problem solving.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Make available a variety of opportunities to help children develop and understand appropriate relationships with others.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Provide continuous opportunities for children to experience success.</span></li>

<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Observe, record, and report any child's behavior, sharing information appropriately with other staff members.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Show personal development and growth by being relaxed, using a calm, quiet voice, being pleasant and enthusiastic about the children, and by using self-control in trying situations.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Assist with transition activities for the Head Start child and family: into Head Start, during the year, and to the next placement (kindergarten).</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Complete required home visits or center conferences with parents in conjunction with the Family Service staff.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Assist the children at snack, breakfast, and lunchtime, ensuring that the Head Start philosophy of serving family style meals is maintained and that the children serve themselves. The Teacher Assistant and Teacher will both be seated at the table(s) with the children at mealtimes.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Serve as transportation escort on a rotating basis with other center staff, or as requested.</span></li>
<li style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Start Program Director.</span></li>

<p><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">EDUCATION:</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;">Associate degree or Baccalaureate Degree in early childhood education or related field</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;">Must meet the minimum qualifications for Director of a licensed child care facility, to generally include 6 college credit hours in business management and 6 college credit hours in child development. (Clock hours in management may be accepted in certain instances).</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">EXPERIENCE</span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">: A minimum of 2 year's employment in a licensed child-care facility. (Bachelor's degree requirement: one year of experience in a licensed child-care facility).</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">SKILLS: </span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills, as well as a thorough understanding of developmentally appropriate practice. The Teacher/Director must have the ability to communicate with, develop and motivate employees to create a positive work environment</span><em><span style="font-size:11pt;">. </span></em><span style="font-size:11pt;">Must be flexible and have well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to conduct training programs, maintain records, prepare reports, and clearly understand written or verbal instruction. Ability to organize, manage, and control workflow. Ability to work effectively with individuals from various ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, and cultural backgrounds. Ability to identify, assimilate, comprehend, and solve critical elements of various situations (initiate solutions without constant supervision). </span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">OTHER: </span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">Professional in manner and attire. No record of a conviction which would contraindicate employment. Must have a valid Class C driver's license and a reliable vehicle with current vehicle liability insurance; insurable under HCCAA's vehicle insurance policy. An initial Head Start physical screening. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications (collateral rather than primary duty of this position). Must comply with all HCCAA Policies, and maintain confidentiality and courtesy in all phases of agency operations.</span></p>

May require lifting to 40 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be able to react quickly (run after a child, immediately go to the scene of an incident).</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS</span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">: Must be able to analyze the effectiveness of center operations and choose the most effective course of action for the Head Start program at any given point in time. Must handle new and diverse work problems daily. Personal maturity is an important attribute. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. Must have the ability to listen objectively to people, perceive the real problem and assist in bringing issues to a successful conclusion. Must relate and interact with employees at all levels within the Agency. Bilingual skills are encouraged.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">WORKING CONDITIONS</span></strong><span style="font-size:11pt;">: Occasionally called upon to work outside of the normal 8-4 working day or work odd schedules. Requires some travel to meetings as scheduled, including in-service and pre-service training. </span></p>
