The Mission Critical Commissioning (Cx) Leader is responsible for leading the strategy, operations, and staff development of the mission critical Cx team. This role involves managing a team of skilled professionals in the delivery of high-quality Cx services for mission-critical data center facilities. The individual will drive client engagement, develop new business opportunities, oversee project execution, and ensure alignment with the company�s strategic goals.
What You�ll Do
Strategy / Business Development / Client Engagement
- Work with the mission critical market leaders to develop a strategic plan for growing the mission critical Cx business and execute on the strategy.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in the mission-critical market, including Enterprise data centers, telecommunications, Co-Location and Hyperscale facilities.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and promote the company�s Cx capabilities.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to enhance brand recognition and establish thought leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Cx processes and methodologies.
- Identify industry trends, advancements in technology, and emerging best practices to position the company as an industry leader.
- Collaborate with affiliate(s) leadership to align mission critical Cx strategies with broader organizational goals.
Operations & Project Oversight
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial performance aligns with company objectives.
- Track and report on project timelines, budget adherence, and client satisfaction.
- Manage team and equipment allocation across projects to optimize efficiency and maintain quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with mission critical leadership to ensure Cx services are integrated with other department and affiliate(s) offerings.
- Oversee the Cx process, including pre-design, design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases to ensure all systems function as intended.
- Ensure Cx practices align with client standards and industry standards, including ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and other relevant codes and guidelines.
- Review project plans, specifications, and Cx documents to ensure technical quality and adherence to client requirements.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the Cx process, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery of projects.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a Cx team of field staff, engineers, technicians, and project managers.
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure team members remain current with industry trends, technical skills, and safety protocols.
What You Bring
- Bachelor of Science degree; in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering is preferred. Or comparable experience within the Mission Critical field.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in Cx or engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role within mission-critical environments.
- A history of successfully acquiring new opportunities, delivering projects or services, and a track record of managing a profitable business within the Cx field is preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred; or
- Certifications: Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or ASHRAE Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP).
- Strong technical knowledge of data center systems and operations, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Proven business acumen with an ability to analyze market trends, identify growth opportunities, and drive revenue.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on mentorship and professional development.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with a focus on quality control and client satisfaction.
- Proficiency in Cx software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and active field environments, including data centers and construction sites.
- Regular travel to client sites; extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
Travel
- This position requires regular travel to client locations, with occasional overnight stays.
