Accountant

MCL Construction | Omaha, NE

Build More Than Projects. Build Financial Excellence.

At MCL Construction, we don’t just build commercial spaces — we build partnerships, trust, and long-term success. As a growing Midwest general contractor, our strength isn’t just in the field. It’s in the people behind the numbers who ensure every project is financially sound, strategically managed, and positioned for growth.

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant / Staff Accountant who wants more than routine processing. This is a hands-on role where your work directly supports operational leaders, strengthens financial strategy, and helps drive smart business decisions.

If you enjoy ownership, problem-solving, and improving how things work — you’ll find meaningful impact here.

The Role: Where Accounting Meets Strategy

This position plays a critical part in keeping our financial operations accurate, compliant, and forward-looking. You’ll balance strong fundamentals with opportunities to influence systems, controls, and reporting processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare multi-state tax filings and ensure compliance

  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations

  • Oversee bank reconciliations and credit card activity

  • Partner with HR and payroll on benefits processing

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

  • Support workers’ compensation reporting and compliance

  • Assist with annual audit preparation and documentation

  • Develop and improve internal controls and accounting procedures

  • Maintain fixed asset tracking and management

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries

  • Generate ad hoc financial and management reports

  • Assist with budgeting and ongoing financial analysis

  • Collaborate across departments to improve transparency, accuracy, and efficiency

This isn’t siloed accounting. You’ll work closely with operations, leadership, and project teams — gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of commercial construction projects.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • Experience with multi-state tax filings

  • Joint venture or construction accounting experience preferred

  • Federal or government accounting exposure is a plus

  • Experience with CMiC ERP system is helpful

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and accounting fundamentals

  • High attention to detail with strong analytical thinking

  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership

  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively

Who Thrives Here

You’ll do well in this role if you:

  • Enjoy improving systems and processes

  • Take pride in accuracy and follow-through

  • Ask thoughtful questions and look for better ways to work

  • Stay steady in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment

  • Value respect, dedication, thoroughness, and passion in your work

Why MCL

  • Meaningful exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities

  • Opportunity to grow with a well-established and expanding company

  • A team-oriented culture where collaboration is real, not just a buzzword

  • Leadership that values accountability and continuous improvement

  • Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities

If you’re looking for a role where your accounting expertise supports real projects, real people, and real growth — this is a place where your work will matter.
