Make Waves This Summer 🌞

Spend your summer leading unforgettable waterfront experiences while making a lasting impact on campers’ confidence, safety, and love for the outdoors. As the Waterfront Director, you’ll oversee all aquatic programming—from swimming and boating to safety leadership—while mentoring a team and creating a fun, structured, and safe environment.

If you're a strong leader with aquatics experience and a passion for youth development, this is your chance to combine purpose with adventure.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, organize, and oversee all waterfront activities, including swimming, boating, and canoeing
  • Supervise and mentor lifeguards and waterfront staff, including pre-camp training and ongoing coaching
  • Ensure full compliance with safety standards set by Girl Scouts, the American Camp Association, and NYS Department of Health
  • Assess camper swim levels and provide instruction (if certified as a Water Safety Instructor)
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for campers, staff, and visitors
  • Oversee maintenance and proper use of all waterfront equipment (boats, canoes, lifesaving gear)
  • Monitor water quality, maintain required records, and support safety audits and reporting
  • Partner with camp leadership to integrate waterfront programming into the full camp experience
  • Respond to incidents and coordinate with the Health Director and Camp Director as needed

What You Bring

  • Age 21+ with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard (Waterfront) Certification or Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 seasons of waterfront or aquatics experience
  • Experience supervising or training staff is strongly preferred
  • Strong judgment, leadership, and communication skills
  • Willingness to complete aquatics management/supervision training

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and stay active for extended periods
  • Comfortable lifting/carrying 15+ lbs
  • Ability to navigate outdoor terrain and work in varying weather conditions

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • 🌲 Spend your summer outdoors in a beautiful camp setting
  • 💡 Build leadership and management experience
  • 🤝 Make a meaningful impact on youth development
  • 🌊 Lead a dynamic, high-energy waterfront program
  • ☀️ Be part of a supportive, mission-driven camp community
