Registered Veterinary Technician - Inventory & Pharmacy

Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team in a unique and impactful role focused on pharmacy management, inventory oversight, and clinical support.

This position plays an important role in maintaining hospital efficiency by overseeing medication workflow, managing inventory levels for medications and medical supplies, and supporting controlled substance compliance, including DEA and CURES documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys creating structure that helps the hospital and medical team operate smoothly.

In this role you will:

  • Manage prescription refill requests and medication approvals with veterinarians
  • Monitor medication availability and backorders
  • Communicate updates to both leadership and the clinical team
  • Maintain accurate controlled substance logs
  • Perform routine audits & monitor product expiration dates
  • Oversee medication ordering and inventory levels
  • Provide support on the treatment floor during downtime
  • Assist technicians and doctors with patient care and hospital workflow

Schedule:

This is a full-time position with the choice of four 10-hour shifts scheduled Tuesday through Friday, or five 8-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday.

Full-time benefits and compensation**:

  • Compensation: $40-45 per hour, for each hour worked*
  • Bonus package: $2000
  • CE allowance: up to $1,000 annually based on tenure

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 5+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician License in the state of California
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary pharmacology, including common medications, dosing, and safety protocols
  • Experience with inventory management, ordering, and stock control preferred
  • Familiarity with controlled substance handling, logging, and compliance (DEA/CURES)
  • High level of organization and attention to detail, especially in high-volume environments
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple workflows simultaneously
