Job Description

Build projects-without swinging the hammer.
If you've spent years in the field and know construction inside and out-but are ready for a role that's easier on your body and stronger on your influence-this is that next step.

Ackerman-Estvold is looking for a seasoned construction professional who understands how projects come together in the real world and wants to play a critical role in making sure they are executed right. In this position, you will be the bridge between design and construction-ensuring what gets built aligns with the architect's intent, the client's expectations, and the project's standards.

This is not a desk-only job. It's a balance of field presence, problem-solving, and coordination-where your experience will directly impact quality, timelines, and outcomes.

What You'll Do

You will work alongside project managers and design teams throughout the construction phase, serving as a key resource for contractors, clients, and internal teams.

  • Conduct site visits and observe construction progress to ensure alignment with plans and specifications
  • Lead or participate in construction meetings and communicate clearly with contractors and stakeholders
  • Review submittals, RFIs, pay applications, and project changes with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
  • Help resolve field issues quickly to keep projects moving forward
  • Support project managers with documentation, schedules, and construction administration tasks
  • Participate in constructability and quality assurance reviews during design phases
  • Coordinate substantial completion, final inspections, and project closeout

What You Bring

This role is built for someone who understands construction from experience and can apply that knowledge in a more strategic, advisory capacity.

  • 5+ years of construction, construction management, or related project experience
  • Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and construction sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents with confidence
  • Experience working with contractors and navigating real-world jobsite challenges
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to hold others accountable while maintaining professional relationships
  • Organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • A sense of urgency-you understand that delays in decisions impact cost, schedule, and momentum
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AIA documents, project management software, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus
  • Willingness to travel throughout western North Dakota

Compensation & Benefits

  • $30–$50 per hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time, exempt position eligible for overtime (paid at straight overtime 1 times your hourly rate over 40 hours)

Benefits include:

  • 100% paid health insurance for employees and child dependents
  • Employer-paid disability, life insurance, and identity protection
  • 401(k) with 5% match after 6 months
  • Paid time off, holidays, and sick leave
  • Professional development and certification support
  • Company vehicle access for site travel
  • Additional voluntary benefit options (dental, vision, critical illness, and more)

  • Work on projects that directly shape communities across the region
  • Be part of a collaborative, team-focused environment
  • Transition your field experience into a long-term, sustainable career path
  • Have a voice in how projects are executed-not just built
