Kennel Assistant

Companion Pet Hospital is seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team!

In this role, you will focus on patient husbandry and care as well as general housekeeping duties throughout the hospital. You will provide meals and walks to boarding patients, administer medication, and monitor for any medical or behavioral concerns while providing detailed documentation about your observations. You will ensure kennels, common spaces and treatment areas are sanitized and well stocked with supplies.

This position is ideal for those who are self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoy cleaning and organization, and are committed to contributing to a team-focused environment.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 1+ years of kennel or animal handling experience preferred
  • Commitment to a career in veterinary medicine with ongoing training
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitation standards
    • Ability to observe and report changes in animal behavior or condition
    • Comfort handling dogs and cats safely, including group settings
    • Ability to follow care protocols, including feeding and medication routines
    • Compassionate approach to animal care

Companion Pet Hospital is a progressive, Fear Free certified small animal practice located in the heart of South Philadelphia. Established in 2009, the hospital has grown into a vibrant, 6 (going on 7) doctor team supported by 20+ experienced staff members. We�re continuing to grow, with some days featuring 2 to 4 doctors in appointments and another dedicated to surgery. Our team is collaborative, diverse, and deeply committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care while supporting each other�s professional development.
