Construction Estimator

Work Schedule:

  • Time Range: Between 7 AM and 7 PM CST

  • Working Hours: 9 hours per day (8 working hours + 1-hour break)

  • Days Off: TBD (2 days per week)

About the Role

Our client is a well-established, women-owned facility supplies and furnishings company based in Indiana, with over a century of experience serving commercial clients across industries, including education, government, property management, and manufacturing. They specialize in procurement support, specialty construction items, and facility supplies, working with national supplier networks to deliver competitive pricing and efficient service.


We're looking for a detail-oriented Construction Estimator with a strong civil engineering background to support the final stages of the construction process. You'll focus on technical take-offs and procurement for specialty items, working directly from architectural blueprints to build accurate cost estimates and manage vendor relationships. If you're precise, organized, and comfortable working with suppliers to get competitive pricing, this role is for you.


Core Responsibilities

Blueprint Analysis and Scope Review

  • Thoroughly analyze and interpret architectural plans and blueprints to determine project scope, requirements, and specialty item needs

Technical Take-offs

  • Perform detailed take-offs to create accurate product lists for specialty items such as lockers, fire extinguishers, and site furnishings

Vendor Management and Procurement

  • Reach out to and manage a network of suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive pricing, formal estimates, and maintain strong working relationships

Cost Estimation

  • Compile comprehensive cost estimates to ensure project profitability and accuracy

  • Review and validate estimates against project scope and blueprint requirements


Candidate Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related role

  • Background in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills for vendor negotiation and coordination

Good to Haves

  • Familiarity with specialty item vendors and pricing in the construction industry

  • Experience using estimation software or construction management tools
