Job Description

Hadco Construction is seeking a skilled Yellow-Iron Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.



What You’ll Do




  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, etc.)

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and adjustments to extend equipment life

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems

  • Complete work orders and maintain accurate service records

  • Operate equipment to test functionality after repairs

  • Assist with field service calls when equipment issues arise on job sites

  • Follow company and OSHA safety procedures at all times



What We’re Looking For




  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment/yellow-iron mechanic

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, diagrams, and technical documents

  • Experience with diagnostic tools and computerized systems preferred

  • Welding and fabrication skills a plus

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)

  • Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Regular lifting, carrying, and handling of parts and tools weighing 50+ lbs.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing on/off equipment

  • Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments, exposed to weather and construction site conditions

  • Noise, grease, fumes, and heavy machinery exposure are part of daily work conditions
