The Arc of Rensselaer County is seeking a reliable and proactive Supervisor of Facility and Grounds to oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of our Brunswick Center Services location. This role is critical to ensuring the facility and grounds are maintained in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor will manage a range of tasks, including routine building and grounds upkeep, minor repairs, and safety compliance, while also supervising and coordinating maintenance staff to ensure all duties are carried out efficiently. This position requires the ability to routinely lift over 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Education and Experience Pre-requisites:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of experience in maintenance work or a related field

Summary

As the Supervisor of Facility and Grounds, you will be responsible for performing regular inspections of the building and grounds, identifying any areas requiring attention, and reporting significant findings to the Assistant Director and Facilities Coordinator. You will also develop and maintain schedules for routine cleaning and upkeep, ensuring that all assigned areas are well-maintained and that additional cleaning needs are addressed as necessary.

This position involves managing the maintenance of the facility’s grounds, including seasonal tasks such as mowing, snow removal, and other landscaping needs. You will oversee the inventory of general-use supplies, place orders in alignment with the agency’s centralized purchasing arrangements, and ensure that all supplies are available and properly stored.

The Supervisor will perform basic maintenance tasks, including minor repairs such as patching walls, painting, and maintaining the facility’s septic system. You will also help ensure that the facility complies with fire safety standards by monitoring fire extinguishers and participating in fire evacuation drills. In addition, you will assist in maintaining OSHA safety standards and act as a resource to staff regarding safety protocols and MSDS information.

Part of your responsibilities will include maintaining the security of the facility by monitoring and responding to security system alarms, both during and after program hours. You will also collaborate with program vendors and contractors as needed to complete maintenance tasks and repairs. The Supervisor of Facility and Grounds will assist with overseeing and training assigned maintenance staff, as directed by the Assistant Director.

If you are an organized, hands-on professional with a strong work ethic and a dedication to maintaining a safe and clean environment, we encourage you to apply for this important role.
