Description

  • Certified Medical Assistant-Back Up MA assignment
  • Attends work regularly and on time.
  • Able to cover as Back up Medical Assistant in any specialty.
  • Able to cover occasional primary MA coverage.
  • Actively checks email throughout the day and responds to any time sensitive items.
  • Maintains a reputation for effective interpersonal relations with teams, supervisors, and patients.
  • Effectively and professionally communicates with the care team to ensure the flow of patient care is successful.
  • Captures and accurately documents: vitals (blood pressure, height, weight, temp, O2 and pulse), pharmacy information and history of chief complaint.
  • Reviews/updates medication and allergies-verifies the patient is taking all medications listed, dosage and frequency. 
  • Ensure meaningful use measures are met for each patient. 
  • Room and escort patients as needed to exam rooms, x-ray and having the patient dressed down as needed.
  • Completes forms as needed for patient and provider.
  • Completes DME requisitions for provider signature.
  • Places imaging orders per physician protocols.
  • Turn over exam rooms throughout the day to ensure rooms are sanitized/cleaned, stocked and ready for the next patient. 
  • Completes daily stocking of clinic rooms and supply closets.
  • Introduced to NextGen tasks and patient portal messages, returning patient phone calls, suture and staple removal, wound dressings, drawing up and assisting with injections, and helping with minor medical procedures. 
  • Answers incoming phone calls on the clinical back line.
  • Checking in with peers regularly and asking how you can assist them.
  • Follows OSHA guidelines.
  • Attend required meetings and actively participate in committees as requested.
  • Strictly maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA rules and regulations. 
  • Participate in the Lift Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a certified, registered, or credentialed Medical Assistant with at least six months of post-educational experience working as a Medical Assistant. 
  • Must have basic life support certification.
