IV. Job Qualifications:
A. Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
B. Understands and will abide by the Michigan Code of Educational Ethics
C. Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, agencies, medical
providers, students, and their families.
D. Ability to make decisions and solve problems logically and effectively within a team.
E. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks with positive results, and demonstrate time
management skills.
F. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
G. Discretion with confidential information.
H. Ability to maintain a calm, pleasant, and professional manner at all times.
V. Job Responsibilities
A. Provides counseling services to students with and without identified disabilities.
B. Assists in the development of student behavior management plans, functional behavior
assessments, and manifestation determinations.
C. Supports teachers and the principal in addressing students who are experiencing difficulties.
D. Consults, counsels, and collaborates with parents, school personnel, students, and appropriate
community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns developed in a multi-tiered
system of support.
E. Serves as liaison between the school and outside social agencies, when appropriate.
F. Maintains confidential records on each student referred; completes all required paperwork timely
and efficiently.
G. May travel to and from student homes as assigned.
H. Performs other related duties as assigned by building principal.
VI. Salary: Per Byron Education Association Contract
