Medical Assistant – Make an Impact

Planned Parenthood of Florida is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our talented team in our Naples health center. Health Center Schedule
This is a full time position based in our Naples health center, which is currently open four days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The health center is presently closed on Wednesdays, though hours of operation may expand in the future.

Team members may also have occasional opportunities to support our Fort Myers health center, particularly when coverage is needed during staff absences. The Fort Myers center operates additional days, including Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flexibility to occasionally assist at the Fort Myers location is preferred but not guaranteed.

Training and Role Development

This position will begin with a primary focus on front office responsibilities to support patient flow, scheduling, and overall health center operations. As part of your development, you will receive training and cross functional exposure to back office clinical duties, including patient intake, assisting with procedures, and clinical support functions.

Snapshot of key accountabilities of the Medical Assistant

  • Support front office operations including patient check in and check out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate patient flow.
  • Conduct patient intake, including medical and social histories, and perform STI screenings and point of care testing.
  • Educate patients in a non directive manner on birth control options and pregnancy related services, supporting informed decision making.
  • Ensure exam rooms are properly prepared and sanitized between patients, and assist with clinical tasks, procedural support, and lab work in accordance with medical standards.
  • Provide excellent patient service aligned with Planned Parenthood’s values of respect, equity, and inclusion.
  • Accurately maintain patient records and documentation while upholding confidentiality and compliance standards.
  • Support the daily operations of the health center through cross functional collaboration, flexibility and accountability.

Experience and Education of the Medical Assistant

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three year of hands on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • New graduates from accredited Medical Assistant programs may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Medical care and reproductive health experience is helpful.
  • Experience working with the public.
  • Ability to learn ultrasound support, procedural assistance and AB lab functions as well as other skill enhancements at the discretion of the affiliate.
  • Strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the mission of Planned Parenthood.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and sound decision making skills.
  • Commitment to efficiency and quality.
  • Comfort discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy options.
  • Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or Creole are strongly preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Hourly compensation range for Medical Assistant, starting at $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and local market conditions. 
  • Eligible for all applicable benefits effective the first of the month following 30 days from your hire date.
