Job Description

Summary:  In conjunction with the Behavior Specialist, the Behavior Intervention Coach is responsible for behavioral and skill assessment and modification of students by working directly with classroom staff on implementation, training and follow through of Discrete Trial Teaching, student Behavior Intervention Plans, classroom management and other procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis. 



Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: all essential job duties and responsibilities will be done in conjunction with the Behavior Intervention Specialist, and include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:



 




  • Assist ABA teachers with modifications of the physical classroom environment to better serve their students

  • Provide support to classroom staff on behavior and classroom management

  • Provide large group and 1:1 hands on training to ABA classroom staff on ABA specific assessments (VB-MAPP, ABLLS, etc.), Discrete Trial Teaching, Manding, NET, data collection and other ABA procedures

  • Conduct assessments (VB-MAPP, ABLLS, etc.) on students

  • Participate in the development of ABA program books for all students in ABA classrooms and conduct monthly program book reviews to ensure integrity and follow through and to make recommendations as needed

  • Participate in the development of student Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans

  • Review and understand all Behavior Intervention Plans

  • Provide coaching to staff on how to implement the Behavior Intervention Plans as written, via modeling, verbal feedback, written feedback and additional training

  • Assist Behavior Specialist with conducting Behavior Intervention Plan integrity checks

  • Conduct observations on students to collect ABC data, frequency data, duration data, etc. 

  • Create materials needed for classrooms (visual schedules, token boards, PECS icons, first-then cards, etc.)

  • Provide ongoing consultation with staff regarding student behavioral issues and individual programming

  • Respond to code whites (emergency behavior intervention) and immediately coach staff through behavioral crises.  Provide follow up services as needed

  • Classroom coverage as needed

  • Attend IEP annual review meetings, parent/teacher meetings and team meetings as required

  • All Block Employees will be required to learn and master the use of any and all software systems and technology utilized by the Agency, on a Program-by-Program basis. 

  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and compliance with both CPSE regulations and Block Institute policy and procedure requirements

  • Demonstrates compliance with Agency, Oversight Agency and Union policies and procedures

  • Demonstrate appropriate interactions between co-workers and students in accordance with CPSE regulations and Block Institute policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate with Behavior Specialist, supervisors and Director of Children’s Services to ensure a streamlined education department

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend all correspondence and memos. 

  • Attendance/Punctuality is consistently at work and on time.  Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.  Arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
